HOW TO GET TO HAMBANTOTA FROM COLOMBO
How to get to Hambantota from Colombo by train
You could take the train from Colombo Fort to Beliatte, trains are available several times a day. The journey would last for 3 hours 54 minutes to Beliatte and would cost you around Rs 150 to Rs 550 for second-class (which will most of the time guarantee you a seat). From Beliatte you will have to take a taxi to Hambantota as there are no direct trains, the taxi would cost Rs.4000 – Rs. 6000, the journey would be around 59 minutes.
How to get to Hambantota from Colombo by bus
From Colombo Bastian Mawatha Bus terminal you could hop into a bus directly to Tangalle (route 2 – 1 ). Would cost Rs 155 – Rs. 200, and take around 2 hours 45 minutes. From Tangalle you will have to take a taxi to Hambantota, this would cost about Rs. 2000 and would take about 30 minutes for the Journey.
How to get to Hambantota from Colombo by taxi
You can also arrange a private vehicle and driver to take you via a rental car or use one of the apps named Uber or Pick me (Sri Lankan app). This is the fastest but most expensive way to travel. It will take approximately 3 hours and 10 minutes from Colombo to Hambantota. The ride would cost you around Rs 23,000 – Rs 25,000.
