How to get to Kataragama from Colombo

How to get from Kataragama to Colombo by train

Direct trains to Kataragama from Colombo aren’t available. You can get a train to Beliatta where the journey lasts approximately 4 hours and costs about RS 480 in first class (which will guarantee you a seat). And from Beliatta you can take a taxi where the journey lasts approximately 1 hour and 42 minutes and would cost you in between Rs 5000 – Rs 6500.

How to get from Kataragama to Colombo by bus

There are regular bus services from Colombo Bastian Mawatha Bus terminal to Kataragama. The journey takes approximately 5 hours and 43 minutes and would cost you around Rs 250 – Rs 330.

How to get from Negombo to Colombo by taxi

You can also arrange a private vehicle and driver to take you. This is the fastest but most expensive way to travel. It will take approximately 3 hours and 48 minutes from Colombo to Kataragama which will cost you about Rs 20000 – Rs 24000.
