HOW TO GET TO TRINCOMALEE FROM COLOMBO

 

How to get to Trincomalee from Colombo by train

You could take the train from Colombo Fort to Trincomalee, one to two trains available daily. The journey would last for 8 hours 15 minutes in the night mail train and it would take 3 hours and 40 minutes in a normal train to your destination and would cost you around Rs 220 to Rs 730 for second-class (which will most of the time guarantee you a seat).

How to get to Trincomalee from Colombo by bus

From the Colombo Bastian Mawatha Bus terminal, you could hop onto a bus to Trincomalee (route 49), it would take about 6 hours and 30 minutes to arrive at your destination. Would cost Rs 300 – Rs. 500 for this journey.

How to get to Trincomalee from Colombo by taxi

You can also arrange a private vehicle and driver to take you via a rental car or use one of the apps named Uber or Pick me (Sri Lankan app). This is the fastest but most expensive way to travel. It will take approximately 2 hours and 10 minutes from Colombo to Gampola. The ride would cost you around Rs 20,000 – Rs 25,000.
