How many days should you spend in Siem Reap when on vacation?

For most travelers, 3 to 4 days in Siem Reap is ideal for a well-paced, fulfilling vacation. Here’s a general breakdown of how you could spend your time:

Day 1: Arrival + Exploring Siem Reap Town

  • Check in to your hotel and relax
  • Explore Pub Street, Old Market, and local cafes
  • Enjoy a traditional Apsara dance show and Khmer dinner

Day 2: Angkor Wat & Major Temples

  • Sunrise at Angkor Wat (start early!)
  • Visit Angkor Thom, Bayon Temple, Ta Prohm (Tomb Raider temple)
  • Optional: Sunset at Phnom Bakheng or Pre Rup
  • Go see the Phare, Cambodia Circus

💡 Tip: Get a 3-day Angkor pass even if you only use 2 days, you can also split days up among temples (It does not need to be used consecutively)  — more flexibility driving your own tuk tuk

Day 3: Interesting Tours and Museums or Tonlé Sap Lake

Option A:

  • Tour Lotus Silk Farm (Relax and enjoy lotus tea overlooking the lotus flowers)

Optional 5th Day:

  • Day trip to Beng Mealea or Kulen Mountain (if you’re into nature or remote ruins)

  • Minimum: 2 full days (rushes main temples)
  • Ideal: 3–4 days (culture + temples + relaxation)
  • More than 5 days: Great if you love slower travel or want to explore nature
