Sights in Matara

Parey Dewa (Rock in water) temple

How to get to Tangalle from Colombo

How to get to Matara from Colombo by train

There are regular trains to Matara from Colombo. The journey lasts approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes, and costs around Rs 480 for first-class ( which will guarantee you a seat).

How to get to Matara from Colombo by bus

There are regular bus services from Colombo Bastian Mawatha Bus terminal to Matara. The journey takes approximately 2 hours and 35 minutes and would cost you between Rs 170 – Rs 240.

How to get to Matara from Colombo by taxi

You can also arrange a private vehicle and driver to take you. This is the fastest but most expensive way to travel. It will take approximately 1 hour and 53 minutes from Colombo to Matara which will cost you around Rs 5000 – Rs 6500.
