There are regular train services from Colombo to Anuradhapura. The journey lasts approximately 5 hours.

There are regular bus services from the main bus station in Colombo (Pettah) to Anuradhapura. The journey takes approximately five hours.
By private vehicle
You can also arrange a private vehicle and driver to take you. This is the fastest but most expensive way to travel. It will take approximately 4 hours from Colombo to Anuradhapura by private vehicle.
There are two buses that leave from the main bus station in Kandy:
