To travel to Cambodia as a tourist, you must apply for a Visa*. The easiest way to do this is online, as an electronic document, via the government website https://www.evisa.gov.kh/.
On the website you will see a choice between Visa T and Visa E; Visa T is what you need if you only plan to visit as a tourist.
As of January 1, 2025, the Visa T fee has been reduced to US $30 (previously $36).
The visa is valid for up to 3 months from approval and allows a stay of 30 days once you enter Cambodia.
There is still a T Visa available on arrival at Cambodia’s international airports, but not at land borders (plan ahead if you are entering by bus or coach).
When applying online, please allow up to 3 business days for processing (though approvals are often faster).
*There are a number of countries with a visa exemption from Cambodia, mainly those with ASEAN but there are select others, be sure to check if you are exempt before submitting any application.

Fill in all required details on the official website and wait for the confirmation to come in. This can take up to 4 working days so be sure to plan ahead, especially during weekends or public holidays. Make sure you check your email spam box too. There is an option to fill in a flight number or bus ticket, and an address in Cambodia, but these aren’t mandatory so don’t worry if you haven’t fixed all of your plans yet. Your visa is linked to your passport and in the system. But just in case, do bring a printout or have the email ready on your phone.
Visa Validity
Your T Visa is valid for 3 months from approval and allows you to stay up to 30 days after entry.
Your 30 days start counting from the day you arrive in Cambodia.
Cambodia Electronic Arrival Card (e-Arrival)
As of 2025, Cambodia requires all air travellers (arriving at Techo International Airport, Siem Reap Angkor International Airport, or Sihanoukville International Airport) to complete a digital Arrival Card online within 7 days prior to arrival.
There’s no charge, and it takes about 10 minutes to fill out.
More information: https://www.arrival.gov.kh/.
Cambodia Tourist Visa on arrival
If you prefer not to apply online, you can obtain a visa on arrival at most international airports in Cambodia.
However:
- The online e-Visa is now strongly recommended as it’s faster and avoids queues.
- Some land border crossings don’t accept e-Visas — check the list of valid entry ports here.
- The visa on arrival costs around US $30 (similar to online).
Cambodia Tourist Visa Costs
As of 2025, official e-Visa prices are:
- Visa T (Tourist) – US $30
- Visa E (Business/Ordinary) – US $35
Always verify the latest fees at evisa.gov.kh before applying, as they can change.
Proof of onward flight for Cambodia Tourist Visa
We are not aware of any instance where a tourist has been asked to provide proof of onward travel, it is not mandatory to provide details of inbound or outbound journeys on the application form. However, if you are asked and have not made any fixed plans, there are some options:
- Onwardticket.com
- Or be creative and make your ticket or change an old one.
Cambodia Tourist Visa Passport Validity
Ensure your passport is valid for a minimum of six months from your arrival in Cambodia. If your passport is too old, apply for a new one before expiry, as your visa is linked to your passport number!
Apply for Cambodia Tourist Visa in Advance
You can apply for your visa for Cambodia up to 3 months before your intended arrival in Cambodia.
Extending your Cambodia tourist visa
There are a few ways to extend your stay, the Cambodia T Visa can be extended for a further 30 days beyond the original 30-day stay.
Note: Online extensions are not available as of 2025, all requests must be made in person or via an agent.
Visit the Cambodian Immigration Department
You can arrive in person at the immigration office and apply for a 30 day visa extension and although the price isn’t publicised and fluctuates, expect to pay $40-50. The office is located opposite Phnom Penh airport, there isn’t any option to apply online at this stage.
Ask a tour company/travel agent to manage the extension
If you aren’t able to visit the office in Phnom Penh in person, you can pay one of the many travel agencies (hundreds based in Siem Reap, for example) to manage the 30 -day extension for you. You will have to hand over your passport and it is worth shopping around as costs can vary around the $50 mark.
Do I Need a Visa for Cambodia from the UK, US, or Australia?
Yes, travellers from the United Kingdom, United States, and Australia all require a visa to enter Cambodia for tourism.
- Apply for the T Type e-Visa online (recommended).
- Or obtain a visa on arrival at major airports.
- Cambodia does not offer visa-free entry for UK, US, or Australian citizens.
For the most up-to-date list of ports of entry that accept the Cambodia e-Visa, visit the official site: https://www.evisa.gov.kh/information/port_entry/3.
For the official list of visa-exempt countries, refer to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation website: https://www.mfaic.gov.kh/.
Overstay your visa
While we would never recommend this as a preferred option, the fine for overstaying your visa is $10 a day. If you only plan to overstay by a handful of days then this will be a very simple payment at the port of exit without any hassle or questions (this may be more practical than a visa extension for a small amount of time). However, if you overstay by more than a month you risk being arrested or deported along with the hefty penalty you’ll have clocked up by that stage.

About (14)days visa extension.

I’ve been quoted for $600 to change my tourist visa to a work visa, that seems alot more than what I thought it might cost, or is that the going rate?
by Wietse
The only legitimate way to change from a tourist to a business visa is to exit the country and re-enter. This will also be considerably cheaper than $600 given there are a number of land borders!
Please fully research the requirements for a work visa which is an additional requirement for people staying more than 90 days under a business visa.

Hello, We are planning a trip to Siem Reap in April next year 2025. We are wanting to stay longer than one month. Just to confirm form the other comments. We are not really wanting to do the E visa. So can we extend out T visa for an additional month. And can we do this by visiting a tourist company in Siem Reap. Also after that could we just leave the Country for a couple of weeks, then just re-enter with a new T visa.
Many Thanks for any info you can offer.
by Wietse
There are two main types of visa to enter Cambodia;
Type T [Tourist]
Type E [Business]
This is different to an ‘E-Visa’ which is simply a visa (of either type) in an electronic form. The name is very unhelpful as people can often get confused between an E-Visa and a Visa Type E.
If you are visiting as a tourist for 2 months, we recommend entering on a Visa Type T [Tourist]; either by applying for an E-Visa or by getting a Visa on arrival. When you enter the country there are many tour companies who can extend your Visa Type T [Tourist] for you, for an extra 30 days stay; you will not need to leave the country to do this.

Here’s an improved version of your message:

I am currently holding a **tourist visa** for Cambodia on my **Pakistani passport** and have unfortunately overstayed by **25 days**. I would like to inquire about the overstay fine and the process for paying it. Additionally, I would like to know if it is possible to extend my visa for another **30 days**, and if so, what the process would be to do so.
by andrzej
Can you arrange vietnam visa?
by Wietse
No, sorry.
by Udul
what is the E- visa extension period & costs.
is it possible to extend Evisa for another 90 days.
by GeorgeW
Hey Udul,
To extend a tourist visa you must either visit the Department of Immigration (opposite Phnom Penh airport) in person or pay for a travel agency (common across the country, especially in the cities) to do it on your behalf. The cost will be around $30-40 and we’d recommend shopping around travel agencies for the best deal.
The tourist visa can only be extended by 30 days. After this you must leave the country and re-enter, there’s no limit on how many times you can do this.
Hope this helps 🙂

Is there also a government immigration fee to process the tourist visa extension? on top of the $40+ fee per person the travel agents charge,
or
does the $40+ travel agent fee tend to include everything?
by GeorgeW
Hey Jonathan!
So the fee charged by travel agents is all-inclusive 🙂
Hope this helps!
