HOW TO GET TO DAMBULLA FROM COLOMBO

 

How to get to Dambulla from Colombo by train

You could take the train from Colombo Fort to Habarana, trains are available twice a day. The journey would last for 1 hour 15 minutes to Habarana and would cost you around Rs 200 to Rs 475 for second-class (which will most of the time guarantee you a seat). From Habarana you need to take a taxi via Uber or Pick me, which would take about 30 minutes and cost around Rs.1300-Rs. 1900.

How to get to Dambulla from Colombo by bus

From the Colombo Bastian Mawatha Bus terminal you could hop into a bus to Trincomalee or Vavuniya (route 15/7 ) and make a stop in Dambulla. Would cost Rs 170 – Rs. 250, and take around 1 hours 45 minutes.

How to get to Dambulla from Colombo by taxi

You can also arrange a private vehicle and driver to take you via a rental car or use one of the apps named Uber or Pick me (Sri Lankan app). This is the fastest but most expensive way to travel. It will take approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes from Colombo to Dambulla. The ride would cost you around Rs 12,000 – Rs 17,000.
