Day 1: Get Started in Siem Reap

Day 2: Explore Angkor Wat

Overnight: Siem Reap

  • Visit Angkor Wat: Catch the stunning sunrise at Angkor Wat (it’s optional, but highly recommended!). Spend the day touring this iconic temple complex, taking in its incredible architecture and rich history as you drive your own tuk tuk around the site.
  • Visit the Lotus Farm: Head to the Lotus Farm to learn about lotus flower cultivation while enjoying the tranquil surroundings. It’s a perfect place to unwind after a day of driving your tuk tuk.

Day 4: Scenic Drive to Battambang

Overnight: Battambang

  • Drive to Battambang: Start your scenic journey from Siem Reap in your tuk tuk, taking in the beautiful countryside and mountain views along the way.
  • Stop at Sisophon: Spend about 2 hours visiting local markets and a pagoda. If you have a longer day, consider making a trip to Banteay Chhmar and staying overnight in Sisophon for a more immersive experience.
  • Visit Battambang Night Market: Once you arrive, check out the Battambang Night Market for a taste of local culture and some delicious street food. It’s a great way to unwind after a day on the road!

Day 5: Experience the Charm of Battambang

Overnight: Battambang

  • Discover Battambang: Explore the city’s many attractions, including the Bat Cave, street art, bamboo train, and the crocodile farm. Visit the old wooden house, take a tour of a vineyard, and see the Killing Caves. For a unique experience, drive your tuk tuk on the runway of the old airport. Day 6: Head to Samlout

Overnight: Samlout

  • Drive to Samlout: Travel 75 km (approximately 1.75 hours) in your tuk tuk to the Samlout area, where you’ll find a variety of local resorts to choose from. It’s a great place to relax and soak in the local atmosphere.

Day 7: Discover Phumi Pramaoy

Overnight: Phumi Pramaoy

  • Journey to Phumi Pramaoy: Continue your journey for 82 km (approximately 2.5 hours) in your tuk tuk. This route takes a little longer as some parts are dirt or gravel roads.
  • Discover Phumi Pramaoy Area: Go west on Road 55 to the Phnom 1500 and enjoy a hike to the mountain peak for stunning views. Look for awesome accommodations along the way, such as Phnom Coffee, which offers a semi-glamping setup. There are many similar places to discover along this route, which you can find on Google.

Day 8: Visit Moat Preah

Overnight: Moat Preah

  • Drive to Moat Preah: Travel 36 km (approximately 0.75 hours) in your tuk tuk to Moat Preah, where you can stay at the Osoam Cardamom Community Center. 
  • Explore Local Activities: Enjoy hiking trails or kayaking with the Osoam Community Center. It’s a fantastic opportunity to connect with nature and learn more about the local environment.

Day 9: Continue the Trip to Pursat

Overnight: Krong Pursat

  • Make your way to Krong Pursat: Travel 135 km (approximately 2.5 hours) in your tuk tuk to Krong Pursat.
  • Explore Krong Pursat Town: Discover the charm of this river town, known for its homestays and delicious local food. Take some time to wander around, sample local dishes, and immerse yourself in the laid-back atmosphere of the area.

Day 10: Arrive at Kampong Chhnang

Overnight: Kampong Chhnang

  • Drive to Krong Kampong Chhnang: Travel 105 km (approximately 2 hours) in your tuk tuk to Krong Kampong Chhnang.
  • Relax or Explore the Local Area: Take some time to unwind or wander around nearby shops and cafes. Whether you’re looking to take a break or soak in the local atmosphere, there’s plenty to enjoy!

Day 11: Kampong Chhnang (Port of Pottery)

Overnight: Kampong Chhnang

  • Visit the Floating Village: Head to Kampong Luong to see the unique way of life on the water. It’s a great opportunity to experience a different side of Cambodia.
  • Hike Golden Clay Mountain: Take a scenic hike up Golden Clay Mountain for panoramic views at the summit. The scenery is truly worth the effort!
  • Visit the Andong Reusey Pottery Community: Discover traditional pottery techniques and pick up some local crafts to take home as souvenirs. It’s a wonderful way to support local artisans while you’re in the area.

Day 12: Head to Phnom Penh

Overnight: Phnom Penh

  • Drive to Phnom Penh: Head to Cambodia’s capital, enjoying the scenic countryside along the way. It’s a perfect opportunity to drive your own tuk tuk and soak in the views.
  • Stop at the Stupa of King Ang Duong: Take a break at this historic stupa, which provides stunning views of the surrounding landscape. It’s a great spot to stretch your legs and capture some photos before continuing your journey.

Day 13: Learn About Cambodia’s History

Overnight: Phnom Penh

  • Visit the Killing Fields and Tuol Sleng Museum: Dive into Cambodia’s history with a visit to these significant sites, providing deep insight into the country’s past.
  • Drive through Phnom Penh: Spend the day driving your tuk tuk around Phnom Penh, taking in its vibrant energy.

Note: it’s best to avoid the city center during morning and evening rush hours, as the traffic can get heavy with people commuting to and from work. If you find it too crowded, consider hopping on a tuk tuk taxi instead.
